Throughout his career, Mr. Deason has been dedicated to providing effective legal representation to companies and individuals from across the United States. From Hawaii to Florida and up to Maine, he has traveled extensively to help clients address complicated immigration issues that arise from labor shortages, government audits and the enforcement of immigration and labor laws. Mr. Deason’s primary practice area is devoted to defending companies from overzealous government regulation, which includes assisting companies with I-9 audits, litigating Department of Labor H-2A audits and other government inspections concerning the labor and immigration regulations.   He also guides companies through the transactional visa process of hiring professionals, managers and skilled employees, assists investors to establish new ventures in the United States, and represents agricultural companies seeking to hire hire foreign agricultural workers each year under the H-2A program. His Spanish fluency and familiarity with the Mexican culture provides companies with an added benefit when companies hire the firm to sponsor employees from Latin America. Mr. Deason also dedicates time in assisting individuals with their immigration status, including the permanent residency, citizenship matters and deportation defense.

Representative Experience

  • One of only a few immigration attorneys nationwide who has successfully assisted growers, farm labor contractors and other agricultural companies to sponsor foreign H-2A workers from Mexico, Chile and Peru to meet seasonal demands.
  • Provided effective representation to employers during I-9 audits conducted by the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Provided I-9 and anti-discrimination training to in-house human resources professionals with various corporate clients.
  • Litigated large Consent Decree under the Seamen’s Protection Act on behalf of a whistleblower who was fired for reporting safety violations to the U.S. Coast Guard.
  • Assisted multinational companies from Mexico, Canada and Argentina to transfer E-2 employees to the United States.
  • Litigated, cancelled deportation and obtained lawful permanent residency status on behalf of undocumented Mexican national with three U.S. citizen children.
  • Acted as co-counsel to defend agricultural company from EEOC lawsuit involving class claims of discrimination and retaliation.
  • Filed approved DACA applications for DREAMer clients.
